New Documentary

On June 15th, Prof. Charles Rex, Chair of Music History and Violin at Holy Apostles, travelled to New York City for the screening of the documentary, Concerto, that  was voted the Best Documentary of the Year by the International New York Film Festival.

Concerto is a feature-length biographical documentary about Charles Rex and his brother Christopher Rex, who were “two talented and accomplished brothers who were raised by a brilliant but highly disturbed father.”

Concerto has won several international awards and “provides a rare glimpse into the lives of two artists as they look back on the ghosts of their past, and highlights the struggles that young, gifted children must often endure at the hands of demanding parents.”

Prof. Charles Rex was a first violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Maestro Eugene Ormandy. In 1980, he was hired as the Associate Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic by Maestro Zubin Mehta. Prof. Rex recently retired and is now teaching Music History courses and Violin at Holy Apostles.
